LTM query

Scenario Configuration on LTM

Server A ip x.x.x.x Service port --> 82801 Monitoring probe > tcp 82801

Server A ip x.x.x.x Service port > 83801 Monitoring port > tcp 83801

Server B ip y.y.y.y Service port > 82801 Monitoring port> tcp 82801

Server B ip y.y.y.y Service port > 83801 Monitoring port> tcp 83801

Client requirement ---–-----–----------

1) Server A & Server B with service port 82801 should be configured as primary .

2) server A & Server B with service port 83801 should be configured as secondary.

3) when the primary server with the service port 82801 fails ,the client traffic should be routed to secondary server on service port 83801.

Could anybody advise how to configure in LTM

  • The point about 2 different monitors is not important as you can assign monitors to individual pool members so you would assign your monitor for 82801 to the pool members listening on 82801 then do the same for your 83801 monitor and pool members.

From what you are saying though is you want traffic currently on ServerA:82801 to be forwarded to ServerA:83801 is the client disables the port 82801?

  • All i want is when service port 82801 is disabled the client traffic should then hit the next server A&B:83801.

Its service port based Failover wherin the client traffic should hit the server A& B : 83801

  • This is what Priority Groups within a Pool provides!

By configuring ServerA as 2 different pool members on different port but part of different Priority Groups you can do this level of control.

See the answer I posted earlier today for example of the configuration.

  • Hi Samit

I might be jumping in the backend of this, but you say the priority group does not work, lets take a step back.

For the priority group to function your health monitor to the pool members must fail. Please when you post your configuration, please include the health monitor configuration.
