Live from Microsoft Tech Ed: Day Two

It was a little crazy, ok? Just thought I’d start by answering the obvious question, “What happened to Day One?”  I lost the trackball in my blackberry and it’s really hard to use without that.  I can navigate a little, but some things I just haven’t been able to get to.  I wanted to tweet up the event, but alas, my technology has failed me.  But I digress…

Tech Ed is my first official show with F5, so I was a little concerned about representing the company well and providing value to the conversations with passersby.  Turns out, there’s no rocket science to this.  If you believe in your products (and if it isn’t obvious, I do), talking about them comes pretty naturally.  Overall, the traffic is a little lighter in the expo hall today, but the depth and frequency of conversations we’ve had has increased dramatically.

I’ve had the opportunity to work the booth along side some really bright field engineers, inside sales, product managers, etc, while here at Tech Ed.  One thing that’s impressed me: the Microsoft solutions team within F5 has done a stellar job documenting how well our products align with Microsoft deployments.  I’ve been flipping through the solution overviews and the monstrous deployment guides and there is an impressive amount of detail provided.  If you are preparing Microsoft deployments, these solutions are must-read.

The coolest thing I’ve seen so far is the highlight of Ryan’s blog entry today on Microsoft’s BranchCache—which of course is an iRule.  Take a look at the masterpiece, then get some coffee and let it sink in for awhile.

Well, I’m off booth duty for a little while, so I’m going to go do some learning.  ‘Til (hopefully) tomorrow…
