Star Wars Rocks

Just got my latest edition of the Star Wars Homing Beacon and it was focused on my two favorite topics: Star Wars and Rock!  I checked out my local library and found I already had 4 of them!

Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Aquabats

These surf-punk supersonic heroes give props to their favorite Wookiee warrior and beloved action figures in songs worthy of any beach-side boombox.

Lyrics from "Ska Robot Army":
Chewbacca
Chewbacca
Lake Titicaca
Chewbacca's on a scooter, man!

Lyrics from "Playdough":
My brothers and sisters, I don't mean to make a scene
But I loved my action figures and it makes me want to scream
Greedo, Chewbacca
Luke, Artoo and Han
Threepio, Yoda, Boba Fett and Obi-Wan...

The Presidents of the United States of America

Seattle alternative rockers salute the Death Star in this quirky homage.

Lyrics from "Death Star":
Somewhere deep inside shifty to the core
The tank is full and fueled
By the dark side of the force that makes it go
To and fro
Killing

Black hearted ball roll the devils dice
Destroy it one more time cause it's so good they built it twice
But now no more
No more, no more!

Blink 182

The pop punk MTV darlings sing a plea to their favorite Rebel princess.

Lyrics from "A New Hope":
Princess Leia where are you tonight?
Even though I'm not as cool as Han I still wanna be your man
I was hanging out with Lando down at Mos Eisley

Jamiroquai

Listen to this British acid jazz/pop band's mantra that even Yoda would approve of.

Lyrics from "Use the Force":
I know I'm gonna get myself together (yeah)
Use the Force
I know I'm gonna work it out
Use the force
I know I'm gonna get myself ahead
Use the Force
Use the Force
I can do it
I can do anything

Weird Al Yankovic

No list of Star Wars musical tributes is complete without the comedic stylings of parody songster "Weird Al" Yankovic. His hilarious lyrics set to well-known pop songs keep fans in stitches and melodies permanent stuck in our heads.

Lyrics from "The Saga Begins":
We started singin' ...
My my this here Anakin guy
May be Vader someday later - now he's just a small fry
And he left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye
Sayin' "Soon I'm gonna be a Jedi"

Lyrics from "Yoda":
I met him in a swamp down in Dagobah
Where it bubbles all the time
Like a giant carbonated soda
S-O-D-A, soda
I saw the little runt sitting there on a log
I asked him his name
And in a raspy voice he said Yoda
Y-O-D-A, Yoda, Yo-Yo-Yo-Yo Yoda
