APM + Windows 8 not working

Scenario:

 

Clean install Windows 8 Enterprise.

 

Connect to APM VE running F5 BIGIP 11.2.1 HF6 with Chrome ver 27.0.1453. Applet fails to install but can be installed manually into extensions page. Downloads software and asks permission to install. Install's F5 software then reports it cannot find the VPN device. The troubleshooting tool showed the VPN component was missing. Checking the network interface show the adapter is missing. It should show something like F5 Networks VPN Adapter.

 

The only way to get it to install was to download the BIGIP Edge client configured with the component installer. Then it would install the VPN adapter as the components service appears to be needed to install the signed F5 network driver.

 

My question is the dynamic install of the VPN adapter via the browser actually working under Windows 8?

    Hi Kevin,

     

     

    I have a Windows 8 image running in Virtual Box and I am able to connect to BigIP 11.2.1 HF-3 with the latest installed Chrome version. I have to add the extension in chrome but it loads the components just fine. I do have an issue when launching a network access tunnel but I believe the issue is with virtual box not Windows 8 as we have people using windows 8 on our environements.

     

     

    Does I.E. load the components just fine? You might also want to check UAC... maybe you could run your browser "as administrator" and see if you have any better luck.
