SNMP polling of nodes behind BIGIP

I'm trying to query hosts on my internal VLAN from an SNMP poller on my external VLAN. I've been searching for solutions but so far I'm only finding topics relating to monitoring the BIGIPs themselves.

I have done a tcpdump to watch traffic on the inside and outside interfaces. Any polling from the outside vlan (int 1.1) get's blocked. Polling from the inside vlan to hosts on the outside vlan work fine. I have a forwarding VIP defined and can ping all the servers in question.

Thanks,

Patrick

  • Any polling from the outside vlan (int 1.1) get's blocked.have you seen snmp polling packet from bigip to host in internal vlan in tcpdump file?
  • I was able to get this working. Turns out it had nothing to do with F5. The hosts had been configured to allow traffic only from the NMS server. The traffic was actually proxied from the inside of the F5 box. Removing that restriction resolved the issue.
