Hardware/software upgrade has broken some monitors

Last night we upgraded an LTM cluster on the 3400 chassis running 10.1 software to 6900 chassis running 10.2 software. The following customer HTTP monitor ceased functioning

Send string: GET / HTTP/1.0\r\nConnection: Close

Recieve string: HTTP/1.. (301|200|302|401)

Any ideas as to why it stopped working and how it can be fixed?

  • There were some changes from 10.1 to 10.2

    Here's some articles:

If you're using 1.0, I don't believe Connection: Close would be necessary.

From the second article, here's the recommended format on 10.1 and 10.2 if you're using HTTP 1.0

    10.1

    GET / HTTP/1.0\r\n

    10.2

    GET / HTTP/1.0\r\n\r\n
  • Thanks Chris,

The link you posted to sol2167 provided the necessary info. The monitor began performing as expected just by adding \r\n\r\n to the end of the get string. Again, thanks for your reply.

    My pleasure.

Oddly enough, if you go from certain versions, the software upgrade utility will automatically adjust your monitors. Sometimes that either doesn't happen or doesn't work properly.
