How to Brick an F5

Hi ,

I have a question regarding formatting.

I remember reading a solution a while back that mentioned the possibility of bricking an F5 if a certain option was used during formatting.

I think it had to do with the image2disk command and trying to use the -no format option when upgrading to 10.X but I am not sure.

It was an F5 SOL but I can' find it anymore , and all I remember (hopefully correctly) is the mentioning of being able to "brick the device".

Does anyone have an idea what I am referring to ?

  • I don't remember anything about bricking a BIG-IP. Was this the SOL you were thinking of?

sol12561: Change in Behavior: The image2disk utility --instslot and --format options are now mutually exclusive

    Hi Aaron,

    Thanks.

That may be it, but I think the installation not only failed in the error but it also rendered the box unusable and needed a clean install.
