Booting problem BIGIP 3400

Hi.

I'm a new user of F5 BIGIP products and currently i'm having some problems with the load balancer 3400.

After doing the update from version 9.3 to 10.1 the load balancer stopped from working and now doesn't enter in grub menu. It keeps saying "Boot from local disk" and don't do anything. I've tried all the things and nothing has worked for me.

Any shots?

Thank you.

Hope that someone help's me.

  • I'd recommend you boot from a USB DVD or memory stick and attempt the upgrade again, it looks like the hard disk is not accessible. This should help you; http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/bigip_getting_started_guide_10_1_0/bip_gs_app_thumbdrive.html?sr=24759390
  • Hi Steve.

I've tried to boot from memory stick but the Load Balancer does not boot from USB. I think it's because of this:

Now i have installed the version 9.3.x. and this version doesn't support boot from memory stick i think.

Anyone knows if there is a way to boot from some kind of image on flash memory or how to do a hard reset?

    Thank you.

  • You've a number of options and v9.3 does support USB installations. This article might be more useful; http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/9000/400/sol9447.html
  • I have tried installing from pxe server and the installation goes well, bu then when i have to make a reboot the system stops before the grub menu and only says "Booting from local disk". After that i can't do anything. I have also tried with usb memory stick and it doesn't do anything when i restart the big ip.

  • Do you have a support contract? If so I'd recommend opening a case.

It looks like something to do with the disks and probably changing to volumes etc. but I'm afraid I can't be sure as I don't have too much experience in this area.
  • No, i don't have any support contract. i agree with you concerning in the changing of volumes or partitions but without any console i can't do the most of things that they told us to do.

anyone knows any solution beyond this?

    thanks.
