BIG IP 3600 hangs without notice

Hi everyone,

We have had an issue with one of our BIG IP 3600 systems acting as a web accelerator where it failed without notice and stopped passing traffic.

System version:

BIG-IP Version 9.4.8 355.0

Final Edition

Issue was fixed by clearing the cached contents with the usual commands:

wa_clear_cache

bigpipe profile http http-acceleration ramcache entry all delete

Last message found in pvac.log file is as follows:

Dec 3 19:01:31 xxxxxxxx WA Debug: ICCommHandler::sendConfigPushRequest handling SIGHUP, requesting SysConfig

This seems to be an scheduled task running every hour, not sure if it's a system task or something the customer has set up himself.

When it runs fine this is the output log:

Dec 3 05:01:21 xxxxxxx WA Debug: ICCommHandler::sendConfigPushRequest handling SIGHUP, requesting SysConfig

Dec 3 05:01:21 xxxxxx01 WA Debug: Resetting DNS Cache...

Dec 3 05:01:21 xxxxxx01 WA Debug: Flushed csf5c01.cyta

Dec 3 05:01:21 xxxxxx01 WA Debug: Flushed 127.1.1.254

Dec 3 05:01:21 xxxxxx01 WA Debug: Done.

Dec 3 05:01:21 xxxxxx01 WA Debug: Closing all logs...

Dec 3 05:01:21 xxxxxx01 WA Debug: Done.

Dec 3 05:01:22 xxxxxx01 WA Debug: Written transform files.

Dec 3 05:01:22 xxxxxx01 WA Notice: Completed read of system configuration (globals, host map, etc.)

Dec 3 05:01:22 xxxxxx01 WA Warning: Received multiple global config messages. Ignoring all but the first.

Is this debug familiar to anyone?,

Notice also that the output of the bigstart status for pvac process shows quite a few restarts.

[root@csf5c01:Active] log bigstart status pvac

pvac run (pid 21047) 44 minutes, 106 starts

Thanks in advance,

moog

  • Hi Moog,

I would open a case with F5 Support on this issue.
