Multihoming a non www record

Good Day,

 

 

We have setup multihoming on www.mydomain.co.za, by palacing:

 

www 600 IN CNAME www.wip.mydomain.co.za

 

In our zone file. (The wip then points to the GTM) and the GTM is configured accordingly.

 

However we are also wanting to setup just "mydomain.co.za" with mulithoming, what would the syntax be in the zone file, as currently it is:

 

@ IN A X.X.X.X

 

Is it possible?

    Not really.

     

     

    The way you're doing your config (WIth CNAME records to a separate domain) is the one I chose. I like it. However the one problem is domain level resolution. You can't insert a CNAME record for the domain itself, because you can't have any other records for an entity that has a CNAME record... Best you could do there is maybe RR... Ugly, but at least it's only for the initial redirect to www.domain.com

     

     

    Unless u can come up with some other way to doit... (e.g. inlining the GTM, but I don't like that because it removes the ability to run multiple secondaries unless you have a GTM to cover each of them).
