VIPRION CPU speed

There is no data available on the speed of the CPU cores used in VIPRION.

Even Dell publishes the speed of cpu when you buy a $2000 PC!!!

Does anyone know what the core speed is? Supposedly, it is a dual CPU and dual Core per blade (4 cores total). But what is the speed of each core in MHz?

Is it faster than 8800 which was also dual cpu dual core?

Thanks in advance

CPU speed for each core is currently 2.6GHz.

From what I understand, we don't typically include the CPU speed in the datasheets because we sometimes swap out for a faster CPU during the lifetime of the device offering, and CPU is only a small part of the performance picture -- most customers are more interested in functional performance specs, such as CPS, throughput, and SSL TPS, which are detailed in the data sheet: Click here

  • Thanks for the response.

Yes, I have seen the data sheet but there is no mention of core speed there.

Some folks were talking about 1.6GHz per core. So, I guess that is not true!

  • Also, I forgot to ask. Do you know the speed of each core in 8800?

    Thanks in advance.

  • deb,

I just watched the "unboxing VIPRION" video. In it, the product marketing manager clearly states that the core speed of each cpu is only 1.6GHz. You stated 2.6GHz. So, who is right and which is it really?

Well, to be honest, Mike gave a sort of non-definitive answer to the CPU speed question in the video. Specs have a tendency to change until just before the product is officially released, so it's understandable that he might not have known the final spec off the top of his head.

The VIPRION CPU speed is definitely 2.6Ghz, which is also the speed of the CPU's in the 8800.

In future, your F5 sales rep would really be your best source for product / platform specs discussions.

    Hi Deb,

i had issue with customer about cpu usage. The customer use Nortel Alteon load balancer, he knows alteon very well like he can configure alteon when his eyes closed. We sold the LTM 6400 (Active-passive) and use irule for hostbased load balance and compression for this project. We see cpu usage on bigip %50-60 and customer does not like this result. We want replace alteon with bigip unit but customer really wonder about cpu usage and we can not do this anything.

So i know important things for LTM L4-7 con/sec SSL TPS.. but cpu is important for all customers also system throughput

what can i do about my cpu problem.if you want i can send config to you.

    Could you please help me?

    regards

  • Hi Zafer,

Are you running a version lower than 9.4.2? If so, is CPU0 constantly at 100% utilization? Does 'top' show tm_comp or tmzd using all the CPU cycles? If so, take a look at SOL6775:

SOL6775: BIG-IP performance graphs report the CPU 0 usage at 100 percent if the BIG-IP system is licensed for hardware compression

    Hi Aaron,

i checked link but im not sure it is bug or not. if you share your email i can send peformance statistics from gui

the customer use maintenance release 9.3.1

    regards
