Cannot see VS using SNMP

Hi all

I am having trouble with a couple of our LTMs here. They are running 9.4.1 and i want to be able to see the ammount of traffic, connections etc that are going through each of the virtual servers.

I have been using a template from the cacti forums which is working well on some boxes that we have running 9.4.4 but when using them on 9.4.1 i get no virtual server stats back.

Looking a little deeper i have run an snmpwalk against the OID to retrieve the vs names but it just brings back the following.

[root@lb3p01:Active] config snmpwalk -v2c -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.3375.2.2.10.2.3.1.1

F5-BIGIP-LOCAL-MIB::ltmVirtualServStatName = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID

Running this on another LTM returns a list of all the virtual server names correctly.

Does anyone know if the OIDs are different in 9.4.1 or is there anything i need to do to start them capturing.

Many thanks in advance

Simon

Should work the same on all versions, and I can walk that part of the MIB on a 9.4.3 box as well. There may have been a problem in the 9.4.1 release. Please contact F5 Support and open a case. They may have a hotfix or workaround.

  • Hi Deb

Thanks for the reply. We are upgrading OS next week so hopefully it be ok then. If not i will log a case with support.

I can query the nodes and the pools without any problems it just seems like the virtual server part of the tree has stopped working.

    cheers

What happens if you use snmpwalk to dump the whole tree?
  • Hi Hamish

I tried your suggestion and although i get a huge text file generated unfortunately it does not contain the virtual server statistics. I did an snmpwalk on 1.3.6.1.4.1.3375 and everything else seems to be there though.

    cheers
