Slow GUI?

Does anyone else have problems with a slow GUI? I am running an HA Pair of 3400s on code version 9.4.3 and the GUI takes an average of 5-7 seconds to move throughout on each option. It is specifically worse when we have a decent amount of traffic passing through it from the Internet (200 Mbps for example).

I opened up a ticket to investigate, and the troubleshooting steps were as follows:

1) Disabling the 'Display Host Names When Possible' checkbox.

We actually use/need this functionality, but I disabled it and did not feel any improved functionality.

2) Restart Tomcat in case their were some hung processes

Unfortunately, restarting tomcat did not fix the issue.

3) full_box_reboot -- haven't tried this yet, but I'm not sure if rebooting the box will fix any problem because we've been through a couple reboots without any resolution of GUI slowness.

With that being said, we typically run at about 60% idle on the CPU. If I run a top command and move around throughout the GUI, the CPU will typically drop to around 0% idle as I do this.

Has anyone else experienced a slow GUI, and if so, do you know how to remediate it? Thanks.

  • Run a 'b interface show' from the command line and make sure that your mgmt interface is negotiating full duplex. I've had a fair amount of boxes come up half duplex if the switch is not set to Auto, and the GUI is quite slow when that happens.

  • Yeah - I wish that were the case, but it is running on Full Duplex.

All interfaces are slow when going to the GUI - so definitely not a speed/duplex issue.

Any other thoughts? Does anyone else have this problem?
