Proparties for wild-card server

Hello, i created wild card VS in link controller for outbound traffic for all port.

but many times i get suggestion to configure wild-card vs for different port also like ftp,http,https..etc.

wildcard Virtual server port

0.0.0.0 any(all port)

0.0.0.0 21

0.0.0.0 80

0.0.0.0 443

my doubt is, why to create different wildcad VS if we create for a all port?. Is there need to create VS for specific port?

  • Using single virtual servers per service gives you the option of configuring TCP options specific to the protocol and/or applications. If you can get away with setting these globally, then a single 0.0.0.0:0 VS would work fine.

  • Another reason is that you need to set destination address affinity persistence on 443 connections, because you don't want a single SSL session being load balanced across multiple links. So splitting the wildcard virtuals out by port allows you to be more granular with settings like persistence.
