Firepass VPN - No Dial Tone

Hi,

I'm using the (F5) Firepass VPN (Virtual Private Network) to connect to a client's intranet. I've been able to do so successfully in the past, though I've not connected to via the VPN in about 5 months.

For the past few days, I've been unsuccessfully trying to connect. When I attemp to login, a popup appears with the status of the login. I can see it Connecting, Authenticating, and Logging to network. After the status says Logging to network, a second window prompt appears. The name of the prompt is "Modem Event Monitor" and the message is "Please plug the phone line into your modem". Once I click ok, the prompt goes away, and the status in the popup window has - Status: There was no dial tone.

...which is odd, as I've DSL and can connect to the internet just fine. My phone has a dial tone. I've uninstalled and re-installed the drivers.

So, basically, I can't connect, and I don't know why. The only thing "major" that's happened, is that I changed my residence.

I'm not really tech-savvy on troubleshooting this myself, so any assistance is appreciated. And if this isn't the correct forum/place to go, if someone could direct me to the proper place for help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

BTW - The client's Help Desk was helpful, but ultimately stated that there was nothing they could do, as the issue was on my end. The drivers are downloaded and installed. I don't use any physical hardware.

Thanks.

  • I have one or two users who get that error as well, and I have no idea what causes Windows to throw that error.

I think essentially the F5 dialer gets this error from the OS and passes it on with some descriptive text but the cause is unclear.

If you get anywhere on this please do share! I will do the same.
