power save mode

I'm installing a 6900 HA pair , but one of these systems stays in power save mode . (2nd unit doesn't give any problem)

When it boot, on LCD the message "press button to start from power save mode" appaers . However when doing this , nothing seems to happen .

Using the console cable, i see systems boot but stops at following message (see hereunder) . Does anybody know what's happening here ? I can find only little info on power save modes. (most of it for firepass systems)

copy from console screen hereunder :

  • I'm guessing that "power save mode" is a byproduct of a bigger issue. From the console, do you see it continuously trying to reboot? If yes, the error looks like a potential filesystem problem (hard drive or flash). Does it respond to any commands?

I would suggest one of the following approaches:

    1. Follow this guide to completely rebuild the hard drive: http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/bigip_getting_started_guide_10_1_0/bip_gs_app_diskinit.html1029399, and/or

    2. Open a support case and/or potentially RMA the unit.

I would try calling support sound like there is a problem. You can also try connecting to the AOM and forcing the Unit to rebooting the AOM. But again I would call support.

  • no , it doesn't boot continiously . It stays at that prompt.

I can interupt the boot sequence (crtl-C) & go into boot menu . But can't find much info about how to continue from there on ...

  • As Kevin suggested, I'd open a case on this. You could also try reloading the AOM firmware:

sol13846: Recovering from the CFE> prompt and AOM boot failure http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/13000/800/sol13846.html

You could also try running the EUD hardware diagnostic:

    Supplemental Document: Field Testing BIG-IP Hardware: 1600, 3600, 3900, 6900, 8900, 8950, 11000, 11050, EM4000: http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/releasenotes/related/EUD-M-12-10-0.html
