For network failover no problems. I have some that are 400km apart.

For cable failover... No chance... You can't get a cable that long :)

Sorry? Not sure I understand that question...
  • physical site should move to where ltm is connected to the primary site via a lan extended, this will not affect ltm? because the failover network cables would have to be connected to a switch?

As long as there's a layer2 network between the two sites for your BigIP, not a problem..

Actually, not even layer2 is actually required... You can architect around that too... But even traditional layer2 spanning is fine at 10km.

  • UDP tiene que ser capaz de ir de un sitio a otro en menos de un segundo.

Physical failover is limited to 15m, due to attenuation. Network failover needs to have a one-way transit time of less than one second (or at least one heartbeat packet in three needs to transit in less than one second).

In the end, distance isn't really the factor, it's how long it takes UDP to propagate across your network. Measure that, and if it is reliably less than one second, you are close enough together to have network failover.

    Hope that helps.
