Cache eviction rate

Hello there

A quick question about eviction rate in the Ram cache of LTM. We actually cache only our images through a new profile.

Now, caching seems to work good on the website. But I found out that we have an "eviction rate" of 10%. Is this good or bad? I understand that this is when pages or images are not cached at all? Is there a general statement of this eviction rate? Or should I consider this normal?

Thx

  • Hello Drew, i'm nut 100% sure about that, but for me eviction rate is for objects removed from cache because we reached the maximum space or object number in the cache profile. This number can grow if you play with compression and then cache multiple version oh the same object because of different compression algorithm. So having eviction does not seems unusual, conclusion maybe that you need more cache space perhaps.

I would have a look more to the cache hit ratio to give conclusion on cache efficiency.
