F5 LTM increasing "TMM Used Memory"

Hi. I have a BIGIP run LTM 11.5.1 HF2 only. My TMM Used Memory increasing indefinitely.

I believe that the Subsystem xdata is responsible. What is the xdata?

I run the command:

tmsh show /sys memory | egrep 'Max\ Alloc|xdata'

SubSystem Alloc (bytes) Max Alloc (bytes) Object Size

xdata 1.1G 1.1G 2048

Thanks, Jayme

  • Hmmm, I think xdata may have something to do with one embedded subsystem or another. Sounds like you might be affected by a memory leak. I'd suggest you call F5 support to clarify.

  • Xdata is used as a temporary buffer for storing TCP data that is not acked by either client or server. Either the client or the server is slow. Check the xdata after closing all the client and server side connection it should come down.

At dawn the connections go to 0 (only get the monitoring of connections Servers - icmp and http), but the xdata not decreases. Does memory leak? Thanks.

I saw on the dashboard that whenever there is a peak traffic, xdata size increases and consequently the memory used TMM also increases. This helps in anything? Thanks.
  • Hi All, F5 released another hotfix (HF6) day 12/03/14. Apparently the problem was solved. Thank you all.
