Floating and self IP configuration

I could use some advice on setting up a new self and floating self IP on an existing pair of 10.1.0 F5's running LTM configured as active and standby. These will be for a new vlan. I have some experience of the new 11 releases but on 10.x the HA seems to be different.

Active - Unit ID 2

Standby - Unit ID 1

The questions I have are

1) When I configure the active self IP do I select it's unit ID from the dropdown?

2) Where do I configure the standby self IP? on the active and sync config? Or does it need to be configured on the standby?

3) When configuring the floating self IP on the active what unit ID should I choose?

Thanks in advance

    Sero,

    1) yes. But this is only used for active/active setups. I'd chose unit id1 here

    2) self IPS (non floating) are not a shared config so manually configure the standby unit.

    3) my advice, in an active/standby setup is to use id 1

    Hope this helps, N

  • Great Thanks - Reading through some of the docs that's what I thought but great to have a 2nd opinion.
