portal acccess and re-writing HTTPS requests through a proxy

I'm running into the exact issue described in F5 release notes starting with 11.2.1 - https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_apm/releasenotes/product/relnote-apm-11-2-1.html see article 340549

"The rewrite plugin does not implement forwarding HTTPS requests through the HTTPS proxy correctly. However, forwarding HTTP requests through the HTTP proxy does work correctly.

To work around this problem, create a layered virtual server to catch HTTPS traffic leaving APM and forward it to a HTTPS proxy server using CONNECT. Proxy authentication is not implemented, and if response status from HTTPS proxy server is not 200, then use an iRule to close the connection."

I'm just not sure about what is meant/how to implement. Could anyone possibly shed some light?

Thanks!

  • i don't quite understand what they try to say, i would open a support ticket about it and ask them. in the internal bug database there is probably more information.

what exactly are you doing btw? do you have an APM policy where there also is a HTTPS proxy involved? how is that setup?
