outbound traffic from internal vlan server

I have a server that I have set up in routed mode. The inbound connections are loadbalanced just fine. BUT this server needs to initiate outbound connections to the DNS. I read a post that someone stated that you needed a forwarding policy.

I created a basic forwarding policy but it didn't work.

Would anyone have a link or sample config that would show how I could do this?

You have to set a Forwarding Virtual Server. That means a VS listening on every IP address (*, because we do not know the DNS IP address) and only on port 53 with forward IP type. In Forward IP, BIGIP will use its routing table.

If you select standard type, you have to set a pool linked to your DNS server. That means you know DNS server IP address.

To finish, your servers has to have a route to your DNS server with BIGIP SELFIP address as destination.
