How do you apply a HF on 11.x?

Sorry for the stupid question. I have been researching this for days and can't seem to answer one missing question: how in the world do you create a new volume aka. boot location? Am I supposed to drop down to the Linux level to do this like any other Linux distro, or am I supposed to use some method provided by F5? I have uploaded the hotfix to the virtual machine, but I can't figure out for the life of me where to go from here.

  • You can use TMSH shell to do this..

install sys software hotfix Hotfix-BIGIP-11.0.0-1234.0-HF1.iso volume HD1.3 create-volume

    cheers

  • When I try this, it just gets stuck on "Waiting for product image". The hotfix shows up in the shared files directory. What is the meaning of this?

I am currently on 11.6.0 build 0.0.401 trying to deploy hotfix 11.6.0.5.0.429.

Do you have the 11.6.0 OS iso available on the Software Image list? If not get that from F5 and upload.
  • is BIGIP-11.6.0.0.0.401.iso in the software management > image list

  • Yes Under Software Management > Image List > version 11.6.0 Build 0.0.401 is listed.

  • Hi,

to install a hotfix, the base image must be uploaded.

    You must upload:

    • image 11.6.0
    • Hotfix 11.6.0 HF5

When you click "install" for the hotfix, the related image will be installed on the partition and the hotfix will be installed on top of the image.
