Info required for Viprion

Hi All,

Need to clarify some basic info regarding Viprion(new to viprion) :

  1. i believe vcmp host and guest are on the same hardware . how are clusters and slots different ?
  2. is there any documentation regarding terms blades/slots .

  3. how basically viprion functions with vcmp and without vcmp ?

Thanks

    SynAck,

    Short answers:

    1. Yes, they are on the same hardware. vCMP host is, in essence, the hypervisor on which the guests are deployed. A slot is where you can add a blade (say 4 slots in a 2400). A cluster is a group of slots/blades so a blade is a cluster member.

    2. See Viprion Documentation

    3. With vCMP you provision multiple vCMP guests i.e. think of them as individual BIG-IPs running their own modules. Without vCMP a VIPRION device is one beefy BIG-IP where you can hot swap blades to add CPU/RAM/Hard Disk capacity.

    Hope this helps,
