request is going down server in old browser..

Hi,

There are two servers behind the VIP.

Thing is that if we are opening the the VIP in any browser requeste are going on both servers and but if we made one server down and trying to access the VIP,still request going to down server and we are getting message page can not be displayed, but when we are opening the VIP in new browser request is going to the UP server and in old browser its going to down server

can you pls. help me is there any way if request to accessing the VIP in old browser should go to the up server rather than to the down server ?

Regards, Anuj

  • Hi, Anuj,

Are you disabling the one server, or are you forcing it offline? If you're just disabling it, then the server will still accept new connections that match an existing persistence session. If you're forcing it offline, then, the specified server will not accept any new connections, even if they match an existing persistence session.

    Does this help?

    Cheers, Joel

  • Hi,

Depending on your configuration, this may be an expected issue.

If you are you making the node down from Big IP, then what you see is expected because of that:

    Sol13310

When set to Disabled, a node or pool member continues to process persistent and active connections. It can accept new connections only if the connections belong to an existing persistence session.

When set to Forced Offline, a node or pool member allows existing connections to time out, but no new connections are allowed.

But if you are really disconnecting the server (remove cable or shutdown service or whatever that makes it unreachable from the Big IP), then depending on your health monitor check status and configuration you may still have connections going to an unreachable node until the monitor times out (default 16 seconds). I assume that you have health monitoring configured.
