Matching license between HA pairs

I'm trying to build an HA pair of 3900s, but they are licensed differently. I want to un-license some features on the existing stand-alone box so that the licenses match. The current active box is licensed for LTM, GTM, ASM and Client Authentication, while the box I want to add is only licensed for LTM. Is it necessary for the licneses to match if resources are provisioned the same on both boxes, and if so, how do I do it? I've been searching for 2 days and haven't found a definitive answer. Thanks in advance.

  • I'm not sure about the license, but it's ideal (and possibly required) to match the resources under Resource Provisioning. I would try making those match first.

Brad and Theo. Thanks. The general consensus seems to me that the licenses doesn't matter as long as the resourced provisions match. I'll let you know how it goes tonight.
  • No, your licenses do not have to match. Only your provisioned modules should match.

  • Matching resource provisioning on both boxes was all I needed to do. The boxes are now clustered Active/Standby with different licenses. Thanks again.
