Stretch Cluster of LTMs between PR and DR.

We are going to built DR for applications running on our Data Center. Applications are accessed through VIP of LTM and are not using DNS so cant use IP DNS for this.

 

PR and DR are 500KM apart and connected through Optic Fiber. Latency between sites is max 10ms.

 

If i configure two server forms in my LTM

 

  1. Pool for PR servers

     

  2. Pool for DR Servers.

     

Both attached to same Virtual server. IF PR pool is down then traffic will be load balanced in DR Pool.

 

I need to know will it work? Have anybody configured stretch clusters before?

 

Any suggestion?

    There is no issue configuring a pool to use the servers in the other datacentre, but I would look at using one pool and priority group activation to simplify the configuration in this respect. Assigning priority group activation and giving the remote datecenter a lower priority will ensure that the F5 only uses the backup nodes in the event that the primary servers become unavailable.

    Can we configure Active/Standby between different hardware plateform but same TMOS version and module provisioning?
