different physical interfaces on a redundant pair of F5

Hello Experts,

I have a client, and they want to place 2 F5’s across different physical locations. The latency is not an issue, but the transceivers will be different on both F5s in the HA, one will have SRs and the other will have LRs, how does this affect HA ?

i read this sol, but doent have specific instructions.

Cheers Bhav

  • It doesn't affect it in the slightest. The HA keepalive is UDP traffic. As long it gets to the other end, it doesn't care what physical layer was involved in getting there

In addition, the base configuration is (or can be) unique to each box - you could even have the same vlan using different interfaces, and they would still sync quite happily, as only the shared configuration (which excludes the vlan definitions) is synchronised.
