SNMP Poling is not happening

Hi All, I have configured SNMP server on F5 as mentioned below . 1.Configuring BIG-IP system information. 2. Configuring Client access to SNMP agent. 3. Controlling access to SNMP data. 4. Also, enabled trap for SNMPv3 . https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/tmos_management_guide_10_1/tmos_snmp.html As per this document , I have not configured allow monitoring of client access. Kindly guide how to allow monitoring of Client access as I am not getting idea as on which self ID I have to configure to allow the monitoring of client access.

  • what do you mean with monitoring of client access? admin logins? APM logins?

  • I am not getting idea as on which self ID I have to configure to allow the monitoring of SNMP Agent.

I am using management IP on BigIp for Monitoring.

  • self ID? i don't understand what you are talking about, can you perhaps show a screenshot or such what you are wondering about?

In the above link it is mentioned two steps to configure SNMP agent: 1. To allow client access to the SNMP agent

    1. To allow monitoring of the SNMP agent

In the second point it is mentioned to configure self IP for monitoring.

I want to use only management IP for monitoring but in the link it is mentioned that management ip and self ip both. I only want to use management IP. I am skipping this second step.

  • and that is fine i believe, checked a version 10 box and we monitor on the mgmt IP and that works fine.

so is that it or do you have (another) question?

  • Odahh , boneyard.... Case resolved after analysing the packet capture.

We have configured user with OID and once NMS tool requesting F5 is not responding because no such OID exist. Therefore, if you create any user with name A and OID 1.1.2.1.2.1.2.0 . It will agent will such only for this OID. Better option create another user with X and OID subset as .1 .1 subset by default will take request for all types of OID request and thus F55 will response with the matching OID.

  • No self IP we have configured. Only with the help of Mangement IP we are configuring SNMP
