Dual A record for same domain

Dear Team,

We have a domain name say . How can I implement 2 Address records ( of different subnets ) for the same domain () in BIG -IP DNS box such that when one IP is not accessible the website can be accessed from other A record ?

  • Within the WIP configuration, if you use "Global Availability" load balancing algorithm, you should be able to access the WIP from one resource and the other resource will come into play when the 1st one fails.

If you are looking for the setup, I am assuming 2 BIG-IP DNS devices in 2 different locationns and this is implemented using sub-domain delegation. Create a WIP - on a BIG-IP DNS device and let it synchronize with the 2 BIG-IP DNS devices.

Within a DNS service provider, create the following:

    • NS record for wip.xyz.com points to gtm-1.domain.com and gtm-2.domain.com
    • A-records for DNS boxes:

      gtm-1.domain.com 1.1.1.1

      gtm-2.domain.com 2.2.2.2

1.1.1.1 & 2.2.2.2 are the listeners configured on the BIG-IP DNS devices in 2 different locations.
