ASM policies - full list of all settings

Hi DevCentral community!

I was wondering if there is a way of display all of the settings for a particular Big IP ASM policy. For instance, what attacks and signatures it's protecting against, etc.

I understand there are 1000s of different options available per policy, but we'd like to keep an "as built" document outlining the settings that were configured.

I appreciate in advance any insights provided :)

  • Hi Leo,

If you export the ASM policies as XML, you will get much of what you are asking for. Be sure to view the xml in notepad++ or similar to keep the formatting so it is readable.

The signatures are referenced with a signature_id rather than a description however all the recorded settings are noted.

There may be another method however I'm not aware of it.

  • I was hoping for a human readable report. I have tried the XML option as you suggested but it wasn't what I was after.

  • The XML export is really going to be the closest you'll get to what you want. ASM's configuration is not stored in a plain text format, but rather is stored in a SQL database. As such you can't simply pull out the relevant files like you can with LTM.
