Pair of Viprion Guests - local log on one machine, remote on the other

Hi,

I have a quite strange problem with my two Viprion Guests (HA, 11.6.0 HF5).

I have configured HSL, and I currently have a problem with the logging.

On the active machine, the remote logging is working fine, but not he local logging.

On the standby machine, the local logging is working fine, but not the remote logging.

I checked the config several times inluding an upload to iHealth, but I did not find any problem.

Even if I assume, that there has to be a config problem: Why is there a different behaviour on both machines? All the logging-config is synced, right?

Any Ideas? I would appreciate your help.

Cheers,

Thorsten

What local logging? You mean via log and not HSL?

WRT to the HSL, I remember an issue a while back where the HSL would (sometimes) only work when there was a floating self-ip on the unit. IIRC it was being sent form a loopback address otherwise.

I think at the time that this behaviour was a bug, and the work-around for it was an iRule that NAT'ed the outbound HSL traffic to the non-floating self-ip. Sorry, I don't have the iRule around or I'd post it for you to try. But you can confirm by tcpdumping the HSL traffic

    Hi.

HSL logs don't get sent locally. They only get sent to the HSL target. So you must be logging twice?

Can you post the relevant section of your iRule (Suitably marked as code please otherwise the formatting will break and make it unreadable).
