What's meaning of TMM Server side throughput (server In / Server out)

Dear All, we defined F5 as a LTM DNS load-balancer which transparent cache has been activated for it. there are some question maybe somebody can help us to clear them. 1- what is TMM Server side throughput (server In / Server out)

2- sometimes we have a big difference between (server IN/ Server out) throughput and sometimes there is no any difference, this behavior is happening automatically and we couldn't find its reason, please help us to first understand the TMM Server side throughput KPI, then help us to find the problem. also i added a picture can show it.

In below picture you can see one month behavior, on the green arrows we don't have any difference but in the red arrows we have difference.

  • Hi,

you can get your questions answered by using the "Help"-Tab of the configuration utility, while looking at the performance graphs:

TMM Server-side Throughput: This graph displays the server packets-per-second in and server packets-per-second out for the multi-bladed chassis or standalone system.

    • Server In: Reports the sum of all egress TMM and PVA server packets.
    • Server Out: Reports the sum of all ingress TMM and PVA server packets.

The reason why there are differences on the client and server side is potentially because not every request from the client needs a server side request. You're using DNS cache. So several answers may come directly from the cache instead of from the server. Therefore you will see differences on client and server side.
