Active Active Data Center

Hi, I want to design active active data center for my customer using F5 GTM and also LTM. Now, My customer already has one data center (active) and one DRC (standby). Applications running on DC are same on DRC. Some applications are published to public (can be accessed via internet) and some applications are internal only (for internal user and branch offices). My customer has internet link and WAN link on DC and also DRC. WAN link is used by branch offices to access internal applications. My question are

  1. Can one F5 GTM on each DC be an authoritative DNS to answer dns request that come from internet and WAN (branch offices) ? Or i have to use different F5 GTM ? One for internet and one for WAN ?

  2. When using LTM virtual edition, we have to sizing based on throughput. If i have 1Gbps LTM VE, but the real traffic more than 1Gbps, what will be happened ?

  3. GTM and LTM will communicate using iquery. Iquery contains status of the application. So, GTM can choose which application is given to user. If some application are not load balanced by LTM (single server application), can its status is sent to GTM via iquery ? Or the application need to communicate directly to GTM ?

Thanks

    1. I think you can use both GTM for as authoritative DNS for both internet and WAN. See if this link answers your question.

    2. Never used VE. Not sure.

    3. Whenever I have had to deal with non-F5 devices (including server), I would usually use a direct monitor from GTM to the non-F5 device. This has served well for me.
