F5 LTM 1500 running 10.0.1 code, factory reset required prior to disposal

Hi All, I have a pair of F5 LTM 1500 running 10.0.1 code, they were Active/Standby but are now sitting on my desk. I am in the process of decommissioning the devices and simply want to remove all configuration and return the 1500 back to factory default. From what I have seen and tried the config commands do not work on this version.

"load /sys default-config" "bigpipe import default" "bigpipe save all" "bigpipe load"

I don't really want to upgrade the 1500 to a newer version just to be able to factory reset the box.

Does anyone know how to fully reset an LTM 1500 on version 10.0.1 ?

Thanks for any guidance. Mark

  • Hi Nathan, thanks for the information, the URL in your response is the same one I have been looking at. At the top of the document it states that tmsh load sys default-config works for version 10.0.1 however later on it says that command did not come in use until 10.1.0 and to use the clean up instructions below. Unfortunately this process is all about reinstalling OS :) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Note: The tmsh load /sys default-config command was introduced in BIG-IP 10.1.0. For 10.0.0 and 10.0.1, follow the clean install instructions in K10819: Performing a clean installation of BIG-IP 10.x or Enterprise Manager 2.x XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Good spot, that and sys-reset which was the v9 method, it looks like v10.0.1 has fallen between a crack on this. I still wonder if either method will actually work in practice, against what is said in f5 solution articles. Hannes makes a good point about clearing up the rest.
