SNAT amd External Access

I have a virtual server with pool members that are all IPs to google.com. When I type in the IP of the virtual server, the page cannot be displayed.

I am pretty sure this is because the virtual server does not have a lane to access an external ip. In the virtual server settings > Source address translation > I chose "automap". Do I set automap here or choose "SNAT" and setup a pool?

Our BigIps are not our edge servers.

  • Automap uses the Self-IP address for SNAT. The same Self-IP address is also used for other functions like health-check which means, you may not be able to utilize the 65K connections that are possible. If you can, use a SNAT Pool separately. If you think the number of connections created by Self-IP on the F5 is way too low, you can use automap.
