Understanding the dimensioning of BIG IP VE

In the f5 datasheet, it is mentioned that minimum resource requirement for BIG IP VE is 1vCPU, 2 GB RAM, and 10 GB disk. What will be the performance we can get for this resource?

  • i would assume that would be at least enough for the smallest VE, the 25Mbps one. but with virtual editions more come into play then just the specs, just can't just state 1 extra CPU then x more Mbps. if you have specific requirement i would test well on your hardware.

  • Hi,

This is minimal requirements to start the virtual machine.

Look at version release note to know how many memory is required for your configuration (number of modules, ...)

VE disk is almost 150GB when deploying. If only 10GB is available and disk created with thin provisioning, you may have some trouble when you will require more space (upgrades, backups, databases creation for APM and ASM, ...)
