Trying to understand the GTM configuration.

Team, Our GTM box has the below piece of configuration present on it:

virtual iDNS_listener { translate service disable snat automap pool iDNS destination 10.1.1.1:domain ip protocol udp profiles { dns {} udp_gtm_dns {} } }

Now, it looks like this piece really means that some virtual listener has been configured and some DNS servers existing in the pool which mentions name as iDNS.

However, when we try to look at the GUI we do not see any configuration for this virtual listener. On the GUI all we see is the Listener with IP address 10.1.1.1 configured under Global Traffic --> Listeners. Then there is a pool iDNS configured in Local Traffic --> Pools. There is no correlation between this.

So I am trying to understand how this ties in.

Any assistance?

  • Hi,

    On BIGIP, all listener object to handle traffic requires a virtual server.

    In GTM, a listener create a virtual server with profile

    udp_gtm_dns
    .

    In every GTM and LC deployment, I see this virtual server. And I installed GTM version 10.x and 11.x.
