Set up LTM module and then Configuring a Sync-Failover device order of configuration

I am new to F5 and wanted to learning about the sync failover configuration. In my lab I have two standalone BIG-IP 13.0.0 Build 2.0.1671 Hotfix HF2 servers. I wanted to set up LTM module and then Configuring a Sync-Failover device. Can someone validate this plan? First configure f5 serve A completely and get the needed LTM modules and then set up load balancing server on the apps . once this is all virtual server are load balanced and tested . I want to add another server and configure Sync Fail over devices. This is the point I want to ask questions. Is this possible to do or first I need to configure basic f5 and then configure sync fail over . Once this is tested , I should configure the virtual servers for ltm module.

Does the order of configuration important.

Can someone point me in the correct direction or recommend approach. Any pointer is appreaciated.

  • Here the order of configuration does not matter. You can create VS or any objects on F5-A even before configuring a Sync-failover device group. All it requires is the module to be present. Make sure the license applies to this module too.

On the other hand, you can provision LTM modules on both F5-A & F5-B and then go configure device group. Then go with creating the setup in F5-A.

Hint: Network configuration(device level) is different than application configuration (Object level), So either way, you would achieve the results.
