What is the difference between TCP and TCP-RFC3195 in ASM Remote Logging Profiles?

I'm setting up a remote logging profile for ASM. In the Protocol field, there are two TCP options: "TCP" and "TCP-RFC3195". Does anyone know the difference between the two? The help tab in the product didn't offer any explanation, and the manual didn't seem to either.

The version of ASM is 13.0 HF2.

  • Hello AlgebraicMirror,

I think that for the Protocol when you choose

    • "TCP" it will use the default implementation of the TCP protocol
    • "TCP-RFC3195" it will use TCP but with the implementation described in the RFC3195. This RFC is defined for Syslog Protocol https://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3195.txt

So based on my comprehension, if you have a Syslog server it is better to use the "TCP-RFC3195".

    Maybe other members know more...
