sip NAT

Hi,

I am new on F5. I have a question with sip NAT.

There are about 4 kinds of NAT --- Full Cone NAT, Address Restricted Cone NAT, Port Restricted Cone NAT, Symmetric NAT. I want to know which kinds of NAT does f5 support.

I found one sip load balance configuration procedure https://www.f5.com/pdf/deployment-guides/load-balancing-sip-dg.pdf. There is any other sip nat related configuration.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks, Sean

  • note: The server side is in public internet. The client need to talk with more than one server --- register with one server --- call(INVITE) with another server

  • hmmmm SIP and NAT, always scares me a little, do you really need it on the BIG-IP? when i search for SIP on dev central in the last year, i see a couple of questions, but usually silence after one or two replies. so it just works or is quite tricky ;)

as for the question on the NAT methods, for which is must admit the whole cone term was unfamiliar to me, it seems these are not different NAT methods but extra restrictions on the NAT.

the big-ip probably can do all those restrictions if you want, but if it is wise is a different question. so getting back to the first question, do you have to?

if so it might be wiser to share the rough design and ask if that works instead of focusing on different NAT terminology.
