ARP Broadcast issue.

Hello All, I have Bigip 11050 running with code 10.2.1. 3000 Nodes configured on F5 LTM got down. As soon As Nodes got down and not available on network LTM devices start sending ARP broadcast. it happened because in code 10.2.1 when we configure any node it is configured with ICMP health monitor by default. with code 10.2.1 F5 LTM could not handle the Broadcast storm which cause instability on Both Active and standby LTM ( pools were not consistence and flapping ). As soon as we mark the monitor to none issue is resolved.. could it be stopped if we would have code 12.2.1 installed on F5 LTM instead of 10.2.1?

    I'm not sure you could say definitively. If you are asking if there have been stability enhancements and improvements to our monitoring between 10.2.1 and 12.1.2 that would be a resounding yes. 10.2.1 has been out of Technical Support for some time and is not receiving any security patches or technical fixes.

     

    I would suggest you upgrade to 12.1.3 if you want to look at the version 12 code base, but I would definitely recommend you upgrade. You may wish to open a proactive case with F5 support in case you run into problems with your upgrade.
