ASM: When creating a new policy, the Virtual Server drop-down selection box is missing some virtual servers

Running version 13.1.0.6 pr2

Our security team is starting to setup our new ASM policies and during the process of creating a new policy, the drop-down box for selecting the Virtual Server doesn't show all the existing virtual servers. This is happening to several different virtual servers on this particular F5. When looking closer at the VS, I do see that it's setup with a HTTP profile (both systems with the default http profile and those with an iApp created profile). Even with this it doesn't show up.

Is there something I am overlooking here? Not sure what more information might help with the situation, so please ask if you have addition clarification questions needed.

Does it have an existing Local Traffic Policy too, under the Resources tab of the Virtual Server properties?

  • I don't see any reference for Local Traffic Policy under that tab.

  • Hello Steeve,

I think the problem is pretty basic, You try to set an asm policy to the VS created with an Iapp. An Iapp si a specific framework for deploying applications. You can't modify an object created by an Iapp (And in this case a VS that you try to modify by adding an ASM policy) unless you go through "Application Service" or if you uncheck "Strict Updates" that is not recommended.

If it's not the case I advise you to evolve you Iapp Template to take in account your ASM Policy. In any case you will have to select your ASM Policy from IAPP (via a LTM Policy).
