  • purchase a BIG-IP with DNS license.

but you probably first want to talk with your local F5 sales or local F5 partner to discuss requirements and determine if this is the logical step to take.

  • F5 DNS is typically only used to replace BIND integrations though it can compliment and secure an existing windows environment as well.

Though replacement of a windows dns is not typical, the F5 can add security, speed, and resiliency to the Windows DNS infrastructure. You can still use GSLB, DNS Express (cache), and all of the other snazzy features on the F5 but it's probably a more downhill road to keep the Windows DNS in place so that it can play nicely with the Windows environment.
