Reactivating a Viprion vCMP license before upgrade

Hi,

We're running a viprion chassis with all memebers in firmware 12.1.3 and we want to try to upgrade on of these vCMP's to 13.X to try out new features.

However, prior to upgrading I know its good to refresh the license so the config loads. But as this is a viprion chassis the license renew button is removed on the local vCMP guest. And the only "reactivate license" button I can find are on the viprion chassis itself.

I tried to reactivate this license via the offline dossier option, and it all went smooth. However when the activation process was completed, the license date was still the same on the chassis.

Any ideas?

Regards

  • You have to reactivate license dependding on the License check date of the Big-IP version that you want to install. You can check license date in the next link:

    https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K7727

You should veryfy service check date:

show sys license | grep "Service Check Date"
    Service Check Date 2017/03/10

And verify that the service check date from step 3 is a later date than the license check date listed for the version to which you are upgrading. For example, to upgrade to BIG-IP 13.1.0, your service check date should be 20170912 or later. If the service check date in your bigip.license file is earlier than the license check date for the software version you are attempting to install, you must reactivate the system's license before upgrading. You can find procedure for upgrading in the link.
