BIG-IP DNS with LTM for multiple datacenter with the same IP Address

Are there any design guide which deploy the LTM in both datacenter. In the datacenter is deploy the Cisco ACI and have the same IP Address. How can the LTM detect which host application is active on, datacenter A or datacenter B.? Can it be integrated with LISP technology or Cisco APIC Controller After detect the active host, it will send the information to GTM to broadcast the name to external user to access to the active site.

Hmm, not clear what you are trying to reach but let me guess. You have two DCs - DC1 and DC2. You have a GTM for DNS resolution. Boths DCs has an LTM with VIP configured. Both VIPs has the same IP.

You need to forward request to the appropriate DC. Let say DC1 down, all requests need to go to DC2. Is it correct?

  • Sorry for unclear the issue. I have 2 DCs with have extended Layer2 between both DC. The IP address of the VMware host, Web Server on DC1 and DC2 is the same but can active for only one, can be DC1 or DC2 but network device such as F5 LTM is different IP address. If I install 1 LTM on each side, Web server's IP Address 192.168.1.1 is active and has been load balance by LTM. Can LTM detect which location, that's the Web Server is active, DC1 or DC2?? I need the solution because of I want the GTM to resolve name for the external client to access web server to the active DC from the internet.

The F5 and Cisco APIC integration based on the device package and iWorkflow is End Of Life.

The latest integration is based on the Cisco AppCenter named ‘F5 ACI ServiceCenter’.
