iRule error upgrading from 11.5.3 to 13.1.1.1 01070372:3: Persistence mode (Cookie) called out in rule

So when trying to upgrade system from 11.5.3 to 13.1.1.3 getting this error when bigip.conf file tries to load: 01070372:3: Persistence mode (Cookie) called out in rule... and config load fails. The irule we are using is a custom irule and is used for TCP traffic (calls a data-group / class that allows traffic for different ports to go to different pools and persistence settings, in the case of this one it is set for source_addr in the data-group) so not sure why system is erroring about cookie profile which is for HTTP requests. Opened case with our 1st line support vendor (not F5) and not getting any answers, said it is an issue with irule and fix it. Config also loads fine when upgrading to 12.1.3.7 but want to go to v13. Can provide additional details as needed. Creator of irule no longer with company and I am novice at irules so not wanting to change it. We also have a custom irule that is similar but is for HTTP traffic and functions basically same way but data-group has URL paths to match pools and it loads fine without a cookie persistence profile on the VIP.

  • Do you get the same error when going from 12.1.3.7 to 13.x ? Sometimes the error may show up when going from 11.x to 13.x but not show up when you go from 11.x to 12.x to 13.x
