Fallback pool

Hi guys

I have a example diagram of the setup I have in my infrastructure. I am seeking for some guidance and the best way to go about this. As you can see I have a policy attached to our VIP which will send traffic to either Pool 1 or Pool 2 depending on the X-Method that is called by the calling application.

The setup works well and as expected, however, I have a single point of failure i.e. Pool 2, if I lose Node 4 the policy will still apply and keep sending traffic. Please can you help in advising what is the best solution is for re-routing all the traffic to Pool 1 if I lose Node 4?

I hope this makes sense, if you need more information please let know.

You could use Priority Group Activation in Pool 2 so that if Node 4 went offline, you could still route the traffic to other servers and then when Node4 comes back online, traffic will revert back to it. This way you are not changing your X-Method logic.

There's loads of info about this out there - a good intro can be found here
