Ping the server on f5

Hello everyone, I would like to ask a question: the customer has a server with a route to the F5 management port address, but F5 does not have a route to the server, but can ping the f5 on the server, and can not ping the server on f5. Is this normal?

  • Yes, the F5 has a feature named

    Auto Last Hop
where the F5 will send return traffic back to the MAC address it received a request on.

If this happens to be an gateway on the network that can route back to the server, guessing it is, then taffic will be returned.

    You can disable

    Auto Last Hop
on each VLAN and/or device wide under
System ›› Configuration : Local Traffic : General

    Each VLANs

    Auto Last Hop
by default is set to take the device wide configuration but can always override it so check each VLAN if you want it disabled.
