BIGIP GTM Links not UP

Hi everyone!

Im having difficulties in making my links up in GTM

I have tried different health monitors even the icmp (address can be ping) but the links do not become available.

I tried creating a pool consisting of the IP of the links with icmp health monitor and the pool became available.

This is the status displayed in the availability:

"Offline (Enabled) - Monitor /Common/bigip_link from : no reply from big3d: timed out"

We also tried to restart the services.

What other things can I do to check the links of my GTM?

thank you

  • Check if all GTM devices are in sync group & make sure they(gtm, ltm) have same big3d version installed.

Restart big3d demons on gtm. If still problem issue occurs then open support case with F5

  • hi,

bigip_link monitor make severals tests with the links (not only icmp), please sure that other flow are accepted.

  • Hi Pat,

Thank you for this information. However, even we tried using the ICMP health monitor, the links are still marked as down although the IPs are reachable from F5.

We have encountered a similar issue before. We installed a new hotfix and the links suddenly went up. We were not sure if the installation of the hotfix fixed the concern.

This time, we already upgraded the device and installed the latest hotfix for the version but unfortunately, links are still down.

    Hi there,

Make sure you have defined the GTM itself as a server object. This should resolve the issue.

  • Hi Dan,

I tried doing what you suggested. It made the links up.

    Thank you very much!

  • Hi Dan,

Just another inquiry, is adding the self ip of the GTM in the server, a requirement now in the newer versions? Because as far as I know, before, there is no need to declare the GTM itself in the server.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Glad you got your servers up! It has been a requirement, going back to v10.2 at least:

"One server that you must define is the Global Traffic Manager. This places the system on the network map."
